THE wedding of Mariah Carey and James Packer continues to make headlines, but this time it’s for all the wrong reasons.
This week an announcement was made that the wedding would be postponed “indefinitely” as Maria embarks on a tour, causing all kinds of speculation as to whether the wedding will go ahead at all.
Online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au foresaw the postponement, rating the wedding at a $3.00 chance of taking place in 2016, and $1.35 that it won’t happen this year.
The public and media interest in this unlikely marriage has caused quite the stir, with punters heading online to place bets over when the wedding will be held, how much it’ll cost, who will pay and which celebrity friends will join the intimate guest list.
According to the odds listed by Sportsbet, the bride to be is likely to arrive to the ceremony via seaplane ($5.00), and then walk down the aisle to one of her own hits ($7.50). This is opposed to the possibility of arriving on the back of Harry Potter’s broomstick ($1,001) and dancing down the aisle to Without Me by Eminem ($501). If the odds are anything to go by, P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg are likely to attend, and Packer will be the one to fork out the majority of the wedding bill at a cost of $100 million.
Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen said he’s “Not sure if the wedding’s been delayed due to a squabble over who’s paying’, but given the cost, they might need a bit more time to build another casino or put out a new album.”
